About Me

I have always been a little on the heavier side of a "healthy" weight. I was happy where I was although I could have lost a few pounds it wasn't anything huge. I could have easily exercised a bit more and ate less pizza and junk. :) My weight problems didn't start until I became pregnant with my first child in 2005.

I ate way too much junk food and didn't do much of anything but sit around. Looking back I can exactly where I went wrong and what I should have done differently.  I fell into the trap of telling myself, "But, I'm eating for two!" 75 lbs and a baby later I had made it up 235 lbs.  After having Savannah I was able to lose about 40 lbs before I became pregnant with Andrew in 2007.  I didn't gain another 75 lbs this time but I did gain back the 40 I had lost putting be right back up to 235.  Again, I lost the 40 lbs, and gained it back with my 3rd pregnancy in 2008.  I was able to get down to 190 a year after having Cheyenne.  I pretty much gave up and just lived life for the next year or so until early in 2012. I've always hated exercise and felt I could never eat healthy because I am super picky and lets face it, I love food.

A friend told me about Jamie Eason's Live Fit trainer last year and that's where it all began for me. I started learning about clean eating, and instead of giving me a meal plan with specific recipes and foods, Jamie gives you a list of approved foods and a guideline on which you should choose and when. This made a whole world of difference too me! I started making small changes in my shopping habits, finding alternatives for unhealthy foods, I hit the gym, and started running. I haven't been perfect and I have definitely fallen off the wagon more than once. I was able to lose a few more pound though and made it down to 180.  I also tried Weight Watchers, running my hiney off, and even those stupid diet pills (which by the way just made me sick and jittery, I don't recommend them). My biggest problem was that if I didn't have healthy food prepared I would grab the quickest, easiest thing to make which was usually pretty bad for you.  If I had a bad day or bad week I would give in and feel like since I already screwed up I may as well just eat that cheese burger and I can start again Monday.  DON'T DO THIS! I want to smack myself every time I catch myself thinking like this.

I started Jamie Eason again in January and made it through the first phase and part of the second.  Then was introduced to Ashley Horner's Becoming Extraordinary program. They are both amazing programs and great if you can make it to they gym. I have been fortunate enough to have a wonderful gym and the time to go in the mornings for the last couple months.  The problem I have now is school will be ending soon and I'm not going to be able to hit the gym in the mornings. With this in mind I came across a wonderful opportunity to join  Team Beach Body and become a Coach with them.  Their programs like Insanity, P90X, and Turbo Fire are great for when you can't make it to the gym. I have 3 young kids and I know it isn't easy to always fit in exercise but you've got to find a way to make it work for you and get it in.

At the beginning of the year I also made a commitment to run 13 races in 2013. I've finished and gone back and restarted the Couch to 5 K program and am almost done with this again. Once I'm done I plan on working on the 5k to 10k program. I used to HATE running but have learned to love it over the last few months. I'm also joining a lot of online competitions through bodybuilding.com and Beach Body. They are a great way to hold you accountable.

I didn't have one AHA! moment or any event that made me want to change my ways.  It's a bunch of little things over the last couple years that add up over time and make you want to scream ENOUGH!  It has taken me a long time to realize that there is no magic pill, diet, or workout. It's a combination of healthy eating, exercise, and supplements if you want to take those. I've done a lot of 12 week programs and never finished them because a lot of the time they aren't something I can stick to for the long run. I've had to take bits and pieces and find something that works for me. Clean eating and exercise, making my own meal plans are what's going to stick.

The last couple months I have made a lot of changes and want to share them with family, friends, or anyone who may just need a little motivation.  I am fortunate to live in an area full or motivated and active people who are here to hold me accountable everyday.  I joined with Fit Approach as a Sweat Pink Ambassador and love that community as well. They are a great group of women working to get fit and support each other. I am here to be your support and push you when you need that extra little boost.  I hope this blog will help you on your journey and feel free to contact me with questions, comments, etc.  I look forward to meeting all of you.
